RIPLA proudly gives the Spotlight for this month of April to a woman who has made communication an integral part of her life. In this chaotic moments of Covid-19, Rosa de Castillo stepped up to the plate and is keeping the Latino Community and all the Latino professionals up to date with the official information as it comes directly from the governor’s office.
Rosa De Castillo came to the United States from the Dominican Republic in 1989. As a single mother, De Castillo knew the importance of education which prompted her to enroll in higher education while working. She received her Bachelor of Science in Social Services from Springfield College and she holds numerous certifications in health care and education.
She has worked in several organizations public and private, occupying positions as education Facilitator, Community Health Educator Curriculum Development, Service Program Design, Charity & human developing advocate. She also was Youth Project Coordinator in Lifespan Community Health Services, Field Director of Girl Scouts USA (2001 - 2002) and Spanish Interpreter for the State of Rhode Island.
She is founder and director of E&R Multimedia and RLMH Enterprises.
De Castillo now holds the prestigious position of Policy Analyst for Lt. Governor Daniel J. McKee. She is a vital member of the team as both a multilingual woman and community organizer. Additionally, Rosa De Castillo seeks to expand news and education to the Hispanic community of Rhode Island through hosting two radio shows on "El Poder de La Informacion" on Chapincitomedia and one on "Radio Renacer".
